National Public Schools Week, celebrated February 23 – 27, 2026, is a time to celebrate the incredible work happening every day in classrooms across the Suwannee County School District and all Florida school districts. Public schools are the clear choice for Florida families, with 85% of parents choosing Florida public schools and public charter schools to educate their children — and that is something to proudly celebrate!

Today, a high school diploma from a Florida public school is so much more than a milestone — it is a launchpad to success. Public schools offer unmatched choice and flexibility, preparing students for college, careers, and civic life through personalized learning pathways that meet students where they are and help them soar, while building local and state talent pipelines. From inspiring lessons to meaningful connections, public schools are where students discover their talents, pursue their dreams, and build bright futures.

Here in Suwannee County, that success story comes to life every day for our students through educational offerings and career pathways including:
• Acceleration pathways (AP) and dual enrollment opportunities
• Robust Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways at the middle and high school levels, connecting classroom learning to real-world skills and industry needs
• Postsecondary workforce training through RIVEROAK Technical College, offering hands-on programs, industry certifications, and direct access to high-wage, high-skill careers
• A wide array of extracurricular activities that build leadership, teamwork, and confidence
• Strong early learning foundations, with high-quality Pre-VPK, VPK, and Kindergarten programs that prepare students for long-term academic success
• A student-centered approach to education, emphasizing academic achievement, leadership development, and opportunities that support lifelong success

Suwannee County Schools, in conjunction with the Florida Association of District School Superintendents (FADSS), is pleased to announce the launch of Florida’s Future: Powered by Public Schools Communications Initiative. This coordinated, statewide effort will elevate public awareness of the value and positive impact of Florida’s public schools under the unifying theme: Florida’s Future: Powered by Public Schools.

We know that every Florida school district achieves remarkable outcomes daily — whether through student achievements, innovative programs, or community partnerships — yet these stories often remain isolated within individual districts. This campaign will highlight our school district and school successes, innovations, and achievements, alongside the diverse school choice options we offer that can only be found in Florida public schools.

The recent announcement of the historic, record-breaking 92.2% high school graduation rates for the 2024-25 school year is a prime example of how Florida’s Future is Powered by Public Schools.

This campaign will delve into the programs, people, and positive outcomes resulting from the hard work of our dedicated students, teachers, administrators, school staff, volunteers, and community partnerships, and celebrate those successes.

By uniting around shared messaging and amplifying local success stories, school districts will reinforce the value of Florida’s public schools and showcase how Florida’s Future Is Powered by Public Schools.
