Earlier this morning, the Suwannee County School District was informed of an incident involving our local law enforcement personnel. At time of notification school buses were already on their routes and picking up students for school. With information provided by law enforcement, all necessary bus route adjustments were implemented for the impacted area. Schools were placed into a heightened security posture to begin the school day as a result of this incident, and all security measures at the district's disposal were deployed. At approximately 8:50 a.m., schools moved into lockdown status solely as a proactive measure. Upon notification from law enforcement that the incident was over, the lockdown was removed and schools returned normal operations.
Thank you to everyone for your calm and assertive actions in keeping our schools safe, and thank you for the actions of our local law enforcement.
