Reflecting on her experience at RIVEROAK, Erika said:
“During this program, we learned all the basic knowledge and skills needed to enter the world of nursing. The various clinical sites provided hands-on experience and equipped us with the mindset necessary to provide patient care. I chose corrections because I enjoyed the challenging atmosphere and knew that every day would not be the same. Working at Centurion Health at Suwannee Correctional Institution has been insightful. We are like a family, dysfunctional at times but still a family. Medical staff work hand in hand with security to maintain a safe and professional environment. In the future, I hope to continue growing within corrections and maintain a clinical connection. Currently, I am working on completing my prerequisites with the hope of being accepted into an RN Bridge program.”

Coleman is in her 26th year and serves as one of the Agriculture teacher at Suwannee High School. Coleman says, “I became an educator to help students reach their potential and become productive citizens. I chose to teach Career and Technical Education (CTE) because it exposes students to life skills they may not get in core curriculum classes.”
Coleman shares, “Agriculture is a career field that the world will always need. The skills you learn in agriculture will be used the rest of your life.”

Congratulations to Miranda Thompson for being featured in this week's Student Spotlight at RIVEROAK Technical College! Thompson was nominated by her instructor, Mary Vickers, who shared, “Miranda is an exceptional student and a hardworking one too. She works a full-time job on top of being a full-time student. She is excelling in her clinical rotations and is going to be a wonderful asset to any facility she works for.” Thompson came to RIVEROAK and the Surgical Technology program because, “I chose RIVEROAK because I wanted to get my career started and I had heard great things about the school, administrations and instructors. When I saw that RIVEROAK offered the Surgical Technology program and the course was a year long, I knew I had to apply! I'm happy I gave this program a chance and I recommend it to anyone wanting to go into the medical field! I have always wanted to be in the medical field, I was interested in nursing but going to school during Covid made things a little difficult. I wanted to find a certification that I could acquire in a short amount of time to get my foot in the door and I believe that this program was the best choice I have made to make that happen.” Upon completing the program Thompson says, “After I graduate I plan on working and continuing my education.
